Signs & Symptoms: RSV causes symptoms like the common cold with stuff nose, headache, cough, fever and general feeling of red rash and dangerously high fever.
Spread: This virus is highly contagious and is spreads through droplets containing the virus are expelled with coughs and sneezes and then others breathe in the infected droplets in the air. Spreads rapidly through schools and childcare centers. RSV can live on surfaces and on hands and clothing.
Who is at risk: RSV is a major cause of respiratory infection in young children. Almost all children are infected with RSV by the time they are 2 years old. Adults can also get this infection.
Prevention: Good hand washing especially among childcare providers, parents and sibling of young children.
