Good health is a foundation for prosperity and contributes to stability, and these are assets in every country. A world that is out of balance in matters of communicable diseases is neither stable nor secure.” Dr. Margaret Chan, Director General of WHO -2008

This quote is taken from the back cover of the 19th edition of the American Public Health Association Manual-Control of Communicable Diseases published in 2008. These words still ring true today. It reminds me of those famous lines from Charles Dickens’, A Tale of Two Cities: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,…… it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,………” The recent Ebola crisis is surely “our winter of despair” and yet, we have made good progress in controlling that nasty virus and the recent vaccine trial is “a spring of hope”.

Today, we are unveilling the new Nanobugs website: www.nanobugs.com and sharing a more focused direction in our mission to make a difference in the health of lots of people on this planet. I am convinced that as curious people of all ages learn practical microbiology with the help of the Nanobugs, they will be better equipped to prevent infection and take more responsibility for their own health.
